Balance of Family Life, Work and School

I have been enjoying the last few days of R&R (rest and relaxation), walking in our little town. Enjoying the afternoons in the outdoor cafe’s and having lunch and a cold beer. (the weather has just been beautiful) Yesterday after our lunch in downtown Burlingame we made plans to go to downtown San Francisco, see a friend of my girlfriends who had just flown in from Las Vegas, have a drink and watch the fireworks.

As we were on our way San Francisco another co-worker of Mari’s called he had just came in from Los Angeles, so we invited him to go with us and enjoy the evening.

A nice evening with friends, talking then catching the fireworks from the marina in downtown San Francisco.

Though I did not do much studying the last couple of days I have enjoyed being with family and relaxing. I was reading an article from the Globe and Mail (to me the best designed paper in print, and one of the best designed webpapers) It is from Canada, if you get a chance check it out.

The article is from their Education section, globecampus, and is about ” Studies + family + work = fine juggling act” by Theresa Ebden.

That there all has to be this blend, and the ability to prioritize what needs to be done. As for me the last few days was a recharging of the batteries. Tomorrow morning I have my yearly safety training for a flight attendant, mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration and then on Tuesday I start 3 four day trips, so I will be working for 13 days straight. I will have more than 14 hours the first night and 25 hours off the second night in Philadelphia on each trip plus 30 hours off between trips so I will have ample rest, time to exercise and study.

I am excited about getting into this next class, learning even though hard at times, has been lots of fun. I was reading another article were they were talking about the MBA students are on the summer internships. It is in the Financial Times and the article is entitled ” A Dean for Leaner Times” written by Della Bradshaw.

Though I won’t be able to partake in a summer internship, and possible set up a potential job like most MBA students, I will be hard at work each day, plus studying for my classes, doing my best to balance;

My Work with My School Work and My Family Life.

Also I will try and post more, it is a slow time for schools since traditionally they are in summer recess but I will start talking more about the business world. Especially one industry that I think needs an overhaul, from the old traditional thinking CEO’s (old models that don’t work anymore) to what customers expect, is the airline industry.
