Getting My MBA at 48

Changing Studying for Flying Again

Today was suppose to have been a good day for studying, but changes always happen so we must adapt. Going to school while you are working means flexibility needs to be your middle name, while trying to not let the stress build up.

After dropping Mari at the airport, I went home to study and do laundry. I checked my line (schedule) for tomorrow, Stand-by B (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)

Monkey wrench, into my plans, now I had to have the laundry done and be ready and out the door by 3:15 p.m. to catch the 5:15 p.m. flight to Phoenix. Since I would not be able to take the 6:00 a.m. flight on Tuesday, because it gets me in Phoenix to late.

I did manage to get some emails off to my instructor to ask a few questions about Case 3 essay, so maybe in the morning I can touch up the essay and send it back off.

So after arriving in Phoenix, get into my truck and go to my friends house. There is a storm brewing lots of lighting and wind. (It is neat to watch) It is now pushing 8:00 p.m. and I have used up a good 6 hours commuting into Phoenix. So much for another day of studying.

While I was flying in I was reading about Social Media, learning to optimize this blog and how content affects readability. Trying to study is too hard for me to do, so I pick lighter subjects to read about on the flights. I need to concentrate when I study and there is too much going on in the airplane that keeps me to distracted to study.

So as I finish up this post and await the morning, I am hoping that I do not get sent anywhere tomorrow. That I get to sit and study all day.

Beautiful Day in San Francisco

After flying from Toronto, Canada to Phoenix, Arizona then to San Francisco, California I have spend the day with Mari.

I help her with her blog LearningToLiveWithBipolarism, then we went out for a nice lunch BBQ Ribs after walking around our little town of Burlingame. We sat at Peet’s Coffee enjoying the sun and watching the people with good conversation.

Retiring back to the house I have been reading about fixing my blog, trying to add multi-languages as part of a new function for this blog. It is a lot to learn.

It has been hard because I need time off, to get caught up, in my rest and for my mind. I have to put many hours tomorrow into my class work and try and focus. Because I am putting to many hours at work, and they are not as productive as I would like.

I also need to read up on social media and web 2.0 optimization.

Time, need to bend it.

But I have one day off and lots to do before another 4 days of reserves.

Walking in Toronto

Ok, I know I should have studied but I walked from 11:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m.

It was very nice, a beautiful day out

So it is very late 10:30 p.m. and I have to be up at 4:00 a.m. I am far behind.

2 Days of Flying, Little Time to Study

Finally made it to Toronto, Canada

I haven’t been able to study in the last four days, these past two days have been flying the other two doing things at the house, getting caught up and spending some time with Mari

I was so tired, yesterday I sleep 10 hours and felt like I needed more. I had gotten up at 3:30 a.m. to catch the flight at 6:00 a.m. San Francisco to Phoenix wait till 11:00 am to check in then fly Phoenix to Dallas back to Phoenix then to Portland, a 13 hour day of flying plus an extra 8 hours in time just to get to Phoenix.

Today was just Portland, Oregon to Phoenix then to Toronto, Canada.

So I can at least get 5 hours of studying in. I have to start on my next class plus I need to beef up case 3 essay from my Management and Strategy class. Its funny, but I have to figure out how to say what they want, more than that I have to find it in the case study.

ATC Delays to San Francisco

Like most mornings, San Francisco weather cause ATC (Air Traffic Control) slows down traffic into SFO, and of course it had to happen to me this morning, 1 hour more to sit in the airport, waiting.

Since yesterday I have spent 13 hours sitting in airports waiting for flights. (So I know how passengers feel)

Got home and a new class book was there awaiting me, it is for MAP1 (Cases in Marketing Management) the book is “Marketing Management 12e” by Philip Kotler and Kevin Lane Keller.

Though I am starting ABC1, studying for my test, I am going to start reading and working on MAP1 at the same time.

I would like to be ahead of schedule not like this last class. I can’t go down to the wire again, that is to much stress with everything that is going on.

Today Has been a busy day at home, getting some things done (chores) and being with my girlfriend plus more of the same for tomorrow plus start reading/studying for my next class.

I also want to fill out two job applications, for Ancestry and Facebook start sending out more feelers.
