A New Month with another essay sent
Today is a new month, scary since the days are coming quicker to an end of this class and nearer to the time of graduation at Western Governors University.
First off let me say that I am behind of where I wanted to be, so I need to be able to make up some time somewhere guess I need to learn how to bend time. A dream would be able to take the whole month let say April and just sit here and study. No distractions from work, flying, passengers, or the long hours of commuting.
If I could have the whole month, I would be done easily with classes by June. But sadly unless something changes I have to work because like most everyone else I need money to survive.
If there are any suggestions out in the world wide web send them my way.
I did manage to finish the Task 2 essay and spreadsheet, found a few mistakes tonight so hopefully all will be well with my submission.
The next 2 essay are on ETHICS, always a good topic yet unlike all the other essays there is no page requirements, curious maybe that has to do with ethical practice to see how many pages you submit.
Out of the next 9 days I have a 4 day trip, 1 reserve day and 3 days off then the last day which is the 10th of March. Gotta love the pressure, NOT!
This trip that scheduling gave me is not going to be a fun trip, it is an older 737 everyday and working all 4 days. The layovers are not bad, no long 24 breaks but I am still looking at only 5 to 6 hours sleep on each of them.
Houston, Texas, Spokane, Washington and back to Houston, at least it is cities that I have not been to in awhile. Not that I will be able to peruse the cities as my nose will be in the books and my butt on the aerobic bicycle.
I find it interesting that I can sit here all day studying and not miss the television, even though most times it is on I am doing something else as it is just background mumbo-jumbo.
I have had my music on all day, I had gotten froggy one day awhile ago and fixed up an G4 Apple desktop computer with a 22-inch flat screen and put all my music on it. 5804 songs and a few movies, though I love my old Technique stereo, this is much more fun. It does use the stereo to play the music I just don’t have to get up and change the music since there is enough music for days, 17.2 days to be exact. And trust me I have it backed up on more than one hard drive to much work to replace, or redo it all.
As this is a new month I thought I would talk about my blog for a minute, for January I had 191 unique visitors and 1263 page visits and for February 175 unique visitors and 1135 page visits each month an average of over 40.54 visits per day.
I’m getting famous, haha.
Yes, I know this is not much in the scheme of things but to me its cool, it also looks like I have quite a few people who have bookmarked me in their browsers or by way of email.
Another cool thing is I have made over $14, which is great but I don’t receive any of it till it reaches a $100. Just the way Google operates. Anyway it is still all fun, and just like the classes I am taking, exercising or studying, writing for this blog takes planning and discipline.
All great lessons for a better me.
I haven’t been posting to my blog at Business Week, so much to do and learn. I have ideas for iPad apps, but until I get past this class, Accounting and get to where I feel comfortable that will have to wait.
I am hoping Santa will visit me when the iPads becomes available, I am looking forward to having one for reading books, my arms and back will be happy to since I will be carrying a lot less weight. Plus the ability to email or write notes where it isn’t convenient to open my MacBook Pro.
It is getting Oh dark 30 and I need to finish up things here in the house and be ready for my commute tomorrow, in addition to my 3 hour airport appreciation.
All total tomorrow I will fly from San Francisco to Phoenix to Houston and it will cost me in 14 hours total.
Ok I need to go… see you later
A Day of Laundry and Horizontal and Vertical Analysis
As I thought, I have not been able to wake up today, (my body anyway) I feel exhausted.
After doing laundry this morning, I headed out to my favorite coffee shop Winfields because it is quiet and I feel I can trust the people around here, since it is a by a church.
I have now gotten the Horizontal Analysis done and started working on the Vertical Analysis, the company they are using for this class is Google, financial periods 1999 and 2000.
Four cups of coffee later, the lingerings of tired are still in my bones, but it is time to hit the books and Vertical Analysis.
Back in a few.
Resume Studying Instead of Accounting
My mind goes to the book “Nudge”, by authors Richard H. Thaler and Cass R. Sunstein, about the events that have happened today. I feel as though life is nudging me. With the education, the events that have happened at work, my health and mental well being.
Life is nudging, I am starting to feel it, look for it, and move with it. A sense, a drive, a purpose.
After my flight today I was not at all thrilled with the conversation with my supervisor today, so I went to the coffee shop to sit and think, read, and study. Yet as I was reading I started looking at job postings on Google, Apple, American Airlines, Virgin America, and Southwest Airlines as I was looking I found some good prospects, but it occurred to me I really needed to fix, update and enhance my resume.
So off I went to Borders, after many hours there I decided on 3 different books. I will tell you about them a little later.
I wanted to tell you about the very nice flight attendants I was flying with, I could easily fly many trip with these 2 women. One was telling me of a Dear Abby story, where this guy writes in and wants to become a doctor. He says to Abby, “It will take 8 years to become a doctor and by that time I’ll be 38 years old.” Dear Abby writes back saying, “In 8 years if you don’t become a doctor you will still be 38 years old.”
Which is great advice, you are never to old to go after your dreams, because if you don’t try time will still march on.
I need to take a short break…
My 60th and Google’s 11th
Taking a break from studying, let me tell you tough! reading, taking notes, and preparing for my Test on the 24th, crazy.
It is going good, slow but good, learning to learn all over again keeps throwing new challenges my way.
So today is my 60th post and Google turns 11 today and with that I feel as the title of the new TV show “Men of a Certain Age,” that is how I feel today too, of a certain age.
It has been a beautiful day here in sunny Burlingame, I got up and enjoyed the morning. Set out my study material and got busy. Taking breaks going for a few walks and doing laundry.
I understand what Anthony Robbins talks about breaking old patterns in his book Awaken the Giant Within, that if you change a pattern or break a pattern immediately, you should replace it with an empowering process. Otherwise you can and usually do go right back to where you were.
I felt myself slipping this morning letting outside influences take control of my life. So I made a conscious change and while I am thinking about it I think I will read a little from the book tonight.
So much to read, and study I need a month straight, time off to read, exercise an meditate/focus. Hmm I wonder I’ll have to get back with you on that one.
Today I have been working on Human Resource Management taking notes wish I could type faster I could have more done.
Well that was pretty much my day, and counting down till the 24th and my test.
A little motivational reading tonight.
