Motivation

Indeed motivation especially self-motivation is one of the simplest yet hardest thing to do.

I can in my own mind summons up the power to move mountains or build super-computers, but can’t seem to transfer that same creative motivation to movement.

I remember reading Anthony Robbins, “Awaken the Giant Within” about,

Motion is Emotion, Emotion comes from motion, movement, the nervous system needs to move. Expending energy give us a sense of greater energy.

That is some of how I feel right now, that I am not creating enough energy. I have always believed in perpetual motion, things in motion tend to stay in motion and things at rest tend to stay at rest. My version the more you do the more you do, the less you do the less you do.

I am on this cusp

I need to keep the momentum going into the direction of my dreams.

Commitment, dedication, determination

I write this because I want to learn, the problem is I feel sometimes I don’t have enough time to learn all that I want to learn.

Reading books about fixing my resume takes time, writing my resume takes time, learning to write apps takes take, learning to make ebooks takes time, even now I feel that I need to read “Awaken the Giant Within” again and that takes time, the gym takes time.

Boy it sure sounds like I need to master my time, bend time and make time work for me. After all how long do I want this to take before I finish classes.

So I need to remember that Mastery of anything is as long as I want it to take.

With my school work, this blog and the few other things I have on my plate I need to use commitment, dedication, determination to help me achieve.

I have the rest of the night then most of the day before I have to sit at the airport for 5 hours tomorrow night.

Hot day in Phoenix

Yes, it was only 109F today, but I have managed to stay cool most of the day.

After a bit by the pool, the water was great, then to the gym. I have spent the later part of the day getting ready for tomorrow, and working on school work.

I have to do a revised resume and a cover letter, and put it on Linkedin. Those are easy it is coming up with 6 exhibits of certificates, awards, letters of commendation, performance evaluations, papers, publications, pictures of things created, transcripts, licenses, presentations, conference material, etc.

Even that is ok, it is the 10-15 slide power point presentation summarizing the salient points of your career field, explaining the how and why you will be successful in your chosen career, and addressing each of the following competency areas;

Leading people and teams

Developing sustainable solutions

Serving customers

Managing products and services

Managing technology and innovation

Assessing the competitive environment

Planning for the future in the global marketplace

and to top it off a 15-20 minute digitally recorded video presentation that highlights my qualifications for the career path to the audience.

OK those are going to be a little tougher for me to crank out.

ONE, PowerPoint I know little about so I either mutter through it guessing or spend time reading the the book, either way I know I am at a disadvantage.

TWO, the video presentation that part is easy it is coming up with content and actually looking ok in the video.

But I will attempt my best this week to get as much done as possible on these projects. I guess I better start an out-line and work from there.

In between flying and recurrent, we will see how much time scheduling actually lets me have off, or how crazy they work me. That is always a guessing game.

Anyway, back to studying, laundry and getting ready for work, flying in the morning.

Sitting at the Airport in Phoenix

It has been a long weekend, waiting for the results from all my essays from the last class. I have started the next class which is about my resume, video, Power Point  presentation. It should be pretty easy then my last class, Marketing, Economics and Quantitative Analysis.

I need to sit down and make a plan of action to get this finished these classes, I also have to call Financial Aid tomorrow and see what is up with my paperwork. Get my ducks in a row.

Tomorrow they have me going to Detroit with 30 hours there so I am going to try and see a few people, some studying, and of course exercise.

Which that has been part of the changes that have happened lately, I have to get over that hump of commitment (life style change). I am hoping that muscle memory comes back quickly to get me near to back where I was years ago.

A lot of things in my life are having to go back to basics.

On a different note, I really don’t like sitting here at the airport, I would discuss about it but is better if I don’t.

Storm front heading to Detroit

Well, I have been amazed today, so we were 3 hours late getting to Detroit today, and I am exhausted. I have not been able to study for my accounting class in days. To add to this my accounting book arrived at home in San Francisco, and I need to figure out a way to get it. Because reading online just isn’t cutting it.

But I think the safe bet is to fly out Sunday to San Francisco just to pick it up, turn around and fly back the same day.

I have not been able to check up on my sleep, so like tonight when I should have been here for 19 hours it is now less than 15 hours and I am tired. It is to cold outside to go for a walk, and trying to read accounting I keep falling asleep.

This being flexible stuff as a reserve flight attendant, is getting hard, and very hard on my body. It is harder to keep a smile, yet I still got 2 more Above and Beyond cards, (good letters). So tomorrow I need to get up and exercise some to help put some movement into emotion (motion is emotion).

On the other side of my education, I have been trying to learn more about my resume, finding time tough. I need to be ahead of the game.

A great response from yesterdays post

First I want to thank Louise Kursmark, author & executive resume writer, for commenting on my blog. I am so enjoying her book, I have learned a lot about how to make my resume better.

Please by all means pick up her book “30 Minute Resume Makeover” if you are looking to makeover your resume a good place begin is with her book.

Ok, this a me moment, a very cool moment that I am proud of so I would like to post her comments in this blog…

Hi – I’m so glad you selected one of my books after such intense scrutiny! Your resume should be full of interesting material, from your current MBA studies to your rich past experience. Things like “people skills” can be hard to quantify, but if you look for specific examples of when/how you solved a problem, resolved a customer complaint, led a team, brought people together for a common cause, etc., you will make your point without having to include clichéd and meaningless language (“outstanding interpersonal and communication skills”). Good luck with the resume!

After flying in from Salt Lake City, I had to run some errands before heading back to San Francisco. There wasn’t any trips to pick up which is going to hurt but I am hoping the Accounting book comes this weekend. I need to get moving on the class.

I spent the flight reading, I have to say there is so much, that I did not know about that needs to be part or not part of my resume.

Now because of all the climate changes I have been through in the last 2 days and my seat mates on the flight over choose to keep their air vents on the whole flight, I am not feeling well.
